Sleep disorders have been proven to affect an individual’s overall health, but did you know that sleep deprivation, perhaps as a result of sleep apnea, also presents a threat to your safety and those around you when you drive! According to the American Automobile Association, almost one in five fatal motor vehicle crashes involved a drowsy driver. The reflex time for people that suffer from untreated sleep apnea is slower than normal. The reflexes and hand eye coordination depends greatly on being rested enough to be able to focus. This can lead to a higher risk of making a mistake or causing injury if you are not able to concentrate and focus. So be careful on the road!
